The Crosses

Our first collection of crosses were definitely a labor of love and began with the vintage nails pictured. They were sourced from a seller who had them advertised as vintage and found in a New Hampshire barn.

We loved the idea of incorporating 3 nails into the design of our crosses, meant to represent the crucifixion of Jesus. The twine also seemed to be something that felt a bit like linen and could stand as a representation of the cloths left behind in the tomb. (John 20:6-7) But after assembling the above design, it just did not feel substantial and so we continued to work on the design.

We cleaned the nails a bit, without destroying the beautiful “aging”, secured them together in the cross design and then attached them to the plain wood crosses. Finally, it was all starting to come together!

Once we finalized the design, we were ready to start testing the stain colors and that was a lot of fun! We settled on a solid dark oak and a natural wood grain stain for the first two crosses, and a custom in-house blend for the gray weathered wood cross. The final, which is my favorite, is the distressed rustic cross. We also opted to carry some crosses without twine for those who appreciate a more “minimalist” look.

And that’s the story of how the crosses came to be! We have many other design ideas in mind for the crosses and are excited to see where God leads us.

Our crosses are currently for sale on Etsy. Please reach out to us with any ideas, questions or suggestions you may have for future cross designs. We would love to hear from you.

All in His time,

Catina Marie

The first release of handmade journals in our shop is definitely the most intimidating for me. These have been on my heart for a couple years and were inspired by the book of Hosea, verses 16 and 21: “Therefore, I will allure her now;I will lead her into the wilderness and speak persuasively to her.”…
